CAS Christmas Card June Challenge - winter wishes

Today's post is a reminder of the CAS Christmas Card June Challenge.
Our talented designer, Christine, is hosting the challenge, and the theme is Masculine. We have Bobby as a guest designer.

Here's what I made:

I made a few blue/green Alcohol Ink acetate backgrounds. Unfortunately, I ruined two of them when I heat-embossed them. The acetate sheets I used were heat-resistant, but I heated them too long. I should have stopped as soon as the embossing powder melted. They quickly warped. They were heat-resistant but not heat-proof...😢

Anyway, there was only one acetate piece left, so I carefully heat-embossed the trees on it. Whew! Third time's the charm!
Then I matted the piece with red cardstock and layered it under the gray front panel. The sentiment was heat-embossed in red.

To darken the sky, I used Teakwood (alcohol ink), for the first time. The Indigo turned almost black and I liked the result.

The challenge closes on June 24th, so if you need masculine cards to send this winter, it's a great opportunity to prepare them now and play along with us.
There's a lot of inspiration on the challenge blog, so please check it out!

  2. Fantastic design Hideko! Love how the teakwood darkened the top of your sky. Always fun to experiment with colour to see what happens. The white embossed trees really pop against that dramatic sky ... beautiful. Love the idea of adding a red frame and sentiment on your gray card base. Great design, my friend! xx

  5. stunning AI background Hideko, love those deep blues. Acetate is a little tricky, I've avoided it but may give it a go after seeing this. Perfect masculine card :)
