PPA289: A Color Challenge

When I saw the colors for this week's PPA challenge (#289)
I thought I should make a girly card. Here's my card.

These are the three colors Lynn Hoyt chose for the challenge.

I used one of my favorite embossing folders - Elegant Lines.
It's retired, but I love it!

I attached a bow and some pearls to the embossed panel, and on top of that,
I brushed Wink of Stella over the inlays.
I think that's enough to make the card look sweet. :-)

Stamp: Sheltering Tree
Paper: Very Vanilla, Blushing Bride, Pear Pizzazz
Ink: Night of Navy
Accessories: Elegant Lines Embossing Folder, 1/2" Seam Binding Ribbon (Night of Navy), Pearl Basic Jewels, Wink of Stella (Clear), Owl Builder Punch, Cupcake Builder Punch (for small circles), Dimentionals, Mini Glue Dots

Thanks for visiting!

CAS[E] this Sketch #160

This is a card for CTS #160.

After toying with many ideas, I've settled on a very simple one.

Stamp: Perfect Words
Paper: Whisper White, Basic Black
Ink: Basic Black
Accessories: Stripes Embossing Folder

Thanks for visiting me today!

PP283: A Clean-and-Simple Challenge

The theme of the challenge from Joanne is "up, up and away".

I heat-embossed the image and the sentiment on a piece of vellum, and attached it loosely to the striped base panel. That way the stripes aren't obtrusive and yet makes the plain background a little interesting.

Finally I connected the hot-air balloon and the sentiment with silver string.

Stamp: Up, Up & Away
Paper: Vellum, DSP Subtles (Bashful Blue), Whisper White
Ink: VersaMark
Accessories: Embossing Powder (White), Metallic Thread (Silver), Sequins, Mini Glue Dots

PPA288: A Sketch Challenge

It's sunny and bright in California, and I made a springy card today.

My card design is based on the Pals Paper Arts sketch challenge.
The sketch was done by Amy Lazzell.

I used wavy lines instead of straight ones so that they will create
a softer image and give the card movement.

I inserted a piece of glitter paper behind the butterfly to add
some festive flair to the card.

Stamp: Fabulous Phrases
Paper: Whisper White Thick, Pink Pirouette, Blushing Bride, Crisp Cantaloupe, Glimmer Paper (Dazzling Diamonds)
Ink: Early Espresso
Accessories: Butterflies Thinlits, Stitched Snow Drifts (mft), Adhesive Rhinestones (recollections), Nylon Thread, Dimentionals, Mini Glue Dots

PP282: A Color Challenge

I saw some beautiful watercolor plaid pictures the other day, and I thought I should try one.

I used the colors Laurie chose for the Paper Players Color Challenge this week.

Drawing straight lines with one stroke was pretty difficult for me. At first, I tried to make the lines straight and even by painting over them, but that made the colors muddy - maybe because I used stamp ink instead of watercolor paint. Anyway, I ended up using several pieces of watercolor paper before I got this one right. Whew!

It WAS a challenge, but I still enjoyed trying a new technique.

Paper: Watercolor Paper, Whisper White, Daffodil Delight
Ink: Pool Party, Daffodil Delight, Tangerine Tango
Accessories: Upsy-Daisy (mft), Stitched Squares STAX (mft), Handwritten Dies (little b), Mini Glue Dots

CAS[E] this Sketch #159

This is my first entry to a CAS[E] this Sketch challenge.

Here's Michelle's sketch for this week:

I used a burlap background stamp on a diagonal
and lightly sponged off the corners.

The sentiment is die-cut twice, layered together,
and coated with Glossy Accents.
I thought the Jute Ribbon would be an interesting pairing
with the burlap pattern.

Stamp: Burlap Background (mft)
Paper: Whisper White, Basic Black
Ink: Pistachio Pudding
Accessories: Greetings Thinlits Dies, White 1-1/4" Jute Ribbon, Glossy Accents, Mini Glue Dots

PPA287: A Color Challenge

This is a card I made for the Pals Paper Arts color challenge (#287) this week.

These are the three colors Katy chose for the challenge.

I made a frame using Lost Lagoon cardstock and the Hardwood stamp.

I think the font style of the sentiment matches the curvy-outlined flowers.

Stamp: Friendly Phrases, Hardwood
Paper: Very Vanilla, Lost Lagoon, Old Olive, Calypso Coral
Ink: Lost Lagoon, Craft Ink (Whisper White)
Accessories: Looped Border (mft), Wild Greenery (mft), Pearl Basic Jewels, Dimentionals
Thanks for stopping by!

PP281: A Theme Challenge

This is a card I made today for the Paper Players' theme challenge from LeAnne.

The theme banner is this:

I love the puppy's innocent face.

I was not able to find a good font to match the images, so I created a sentiment, using Microsoft Word (snap ITC).

Stamp: Every Little Bit
Paper: Whisper White, Basic Black
Ink: Crisp Cantaloupe, Pistachio Pudding, Soft Sky, So Saffron, Wisteria Wonder
Accessories: Die-namics Pet Accents

Thanks for visiting!

I tried out a new set of thinlits dies today, and made these baker's boxes.

I love making these boxes, and I love eating sweets. The sad thing is that I cannot make sweets to put inside... :-P

PPA286: A Sketch Challenge

I was not planning to make a masculine card, but somehow it turned out to be a Super-Bowl-Sunday like card.

My card design was inspired by the sketch by Linda Callahan - Pals Paper Arts #286.

LA is one of the Big Cities, but I miss my hometown - lots of skycrapers, and neon lights.

Stamp: Fabulous Phrases
Paper: Midnight Muse, Smoky Slate, Basic Gray, Daffodil Delight, Pool Party, Foil Sheets (Silver)
Ink: VersaMark
Accessories: Die-namics Skyline Border, Solid Skyline, Birthday Centerpieces, Embossing Powder (Pool Party), Mini Glue Dots, Dimentionals

PP280: A Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge

Here's the challenge from Jaydee:

Well, I really challenged myself today. I usually choose a 3 item-line which I like the best or is easiest to play with, but this time I chose 3 items which I would normally be least likely to choose.

Yes, I chose Yellow, Birds, and Ribbon, My cards tend to be on the clean and simple side, so this time, I used Hello Honey instead of So Saffron, and Burlap Ribbon instead of White Organza Ribbon. It even took some time to find a bird stamp!

It was fun to try a different style, and I think this was a good exercise for me too.

Stamp: Bloomin' Marvelous, Gorgeous Grunge
Paper: Hello Honey, Naturals White, Mossy Meadow
Ink: Hello Honey, Early Espresso
Accessories: 1-1/4" Burlap Ribbon, Cord Trim (gold), Bird Builder Punch, Mini Glue Dots, Dimentionals
