A Card for "Project Decaying"

Hi everyone,

I'd like to share with you a card I made for Project Decaying.

My dear friend, Rie Moore, is going to release her prerecorded program "Decaying" for piano and violin on January 9, 2022. Prior to that, she launched a project to create a space for thinking about the theme of the program: finding beauty in what is decaying.

Here's my card for the project:

I wanted to express the fleeing beauty of these decaying roses against the timeless elegance of stone. Both will ultimately fade away, but each provides beauty in its own life span.

This card is pretty different from my usual style, but I hope to capture the theme of her program - beauty in decaying.

Thanks for visiting me today!

Playing Cards with Michele

Hi everyone,

I'm so happy to be Playing Cards with Friends today, especially with my dear friend, Michele from I Card Everyone.

Michele is not only talented and creative, she has a great sense of humor. You don't know how many times her funny card sentiments (all original, by the way) have made me laugh and brightened my day. What I most admire about her is that, as her blog title shows, she always makes me feel that she's showing her cards to me personally, even though she has tons and tons of friends even just in the card-making community.

I'm honored and grateful for this invitation to play cards with you, Michele!

Here are the parameters for today's play:

  • Coloring - It's National Coloring Day today!
  • Altenew image

And here's my card:

I took an online watercoloring course, Floral Faves, by Heather Telford in July.

One of the lessons was No-line Watercoloring, and I tried it. This is not exactly no-line watercoloring 😁, but I really enjoyed learning it.

The stamp set I used is one of my all time Altenew favorites, Beautiful Day. The background was ink smooshed with acetate.

Some day I hope to visit Michele in Michigan and to play cards in person!

Let's go and check what she made for today!

Stamp: Beautiful Day (Altenew)
Paper: Watercolor Paper (Artistico Extra White - Fabriano, 140 lbs), Early Espresso (Stampin' Up!)
Ink: Distress Ink (Dried Marigold, Spiced Marmalade, Carved Pumpkin, Crushed Olive, Peeled Paint, Pumice Stone, Ground Espresso - Ranger)
Other: Dies (Beautiful Day - Altenew), Thin 3D Foam Squares (Scrapbook Adhesives), Connect Glue (Gina K)

CAS Christmas September Challenge - merry christmas

Hi everyone,

It's September, and there're only 3 more months in the 2021 calendar. Time flies, doesn't it?
Colleen is our host for the CAS Christmas Challenge this month, and she chose "Plaid" as the theme. Our special Guest Designer is Melanie (Cards by Melanie). Welcome, Melanie!

Here's my card:

[How I made the card]

1. Die-cut the deer twice from white cardstock, and once from red plaid paper. Stacked and glued (*1) the white die-cuts, and inlaid the red die-cut.

2. Die-cut the sentiment twice from white cardstock and glued (*1) the pieces together.

3. Die-cut the stars.

4. Die-cut the panel from green plaid paper.

5. Glued the die-cut images and sentiment onto the panel.

6. Adhered the whole panel to the front white card panel, and debossed the stitched lines above and below the green plaid panel.

7. Glued the front panel onto the card base.

(*1) The deer outline and the sentiment are thin and small, so I actually used a thin double-sided adhesive sheet instead of liquid glue.

Check out our challenge site for more inspiration. I hope to see you in the gallery! You have until September 24th.

Paper: Basic White (Stampin' Up!), Petite Paper Pack (Perfectly Plaid Christmas - Lawn Fawn)
