CAS Mix Up January Challenge - happy new year

Happy New Year, everyone!
Wishing you another healthy and crafty year!
I'm looking forward to chatting with you online in 2019! 😊

The CAS Mix Up Challenge starts the year with a wonderful challenge hosted by our very talented Designer, Nancy. Our wonderful Guest Designer for this month is Viv (Viv's Visuals).

This will be Nancy's last month to be on the CAS Mix Up Designer Team. Thank you so much for your inspiration every month, Nancy! We will miss you so much.

She chose "Bokeh" as the challenge for this month.

 Here's what I made:

Using Bokeh Technique, Die-cutting, Heat Embossing, Dry Embossing, and Stamping

Well, technically, this is too crisp and clear to call it Bokeh, so it's a Bokeh-look or faux Bokeh card. But I really liked it and it's kind of my style. It also has a new year's festive feeling, so I decided to use it as a sample card.
I was inspired to make this card by the Tissue Paper Bokeh technique demonstrated by Lindsay in the tutorial video.

I had beautiful tissue paper my former supervisor put in a gift bag for me last March. It had foil circles all over and it was so pretty that I kept it.

[How I made the card]
1.  Die-cut and punch out a lot of circles in different sizes (1/8", 1/4", 3/8", 4/3", 5/8", 1") from the foil circles, vellum, and glimmer paper.
2. Dry-embossed the front panel to add subtle texture and die-cut it with the stitched curved edge die.
3. Arranged the layout of the circles on the card base and pasted them with glue.
4. Pasted the front panels onto the card base.
5. White heat-embossed the sentiment on a black die-cut strip, and popped it up with foam squares.

Check out the challenge blog to see the amazing designs from our Guest Designer Viv, along with our Designers' cards.
I hope you'll join us for this fun challenge. The link is open until January 24.

  11. All handmade Bokeh cards are technically “faux” Bokeh... so you nailed it! Beautiful design and card, Hideko! Love the curve cut out. Brilliant upcycling of that shiny tissue paper. Super start at CMU.
    Happy new year! xx

  13. I LOVE the bright circles, Hideko! The tissue was a bonus in your gift! The swoosh of the colored circles between the die cuts adds wonderful movement and a very festive look! Love the subtle embossing too. I think I'm going to have to add that embossing folder to my collection.
