CAS Christmas February Challenge - happy pawlidays

Hi everyone, 

Welcome to the CAS Christmas February Challenge! This month's challenge is hosted by our animal lover Designer, Susan (Cardmaker's Garret). She chose Dogs and/or Cats as the theme. We have a wonderful Guest Designer, Jane (Onions and Paper).

I used an adorable stamp set from My Favorite Things, and made this card.

[How I made the card]

1. Heat-embossed the sentiment 6 times in white on a piece of mixed media paper.

2. Masked the bottom sentiment and white heat-embossed the puppy.

3. Colored the puppy with color pencils, and added black to its eyes with the glaze pen.

4. Die-cut the double stitched frame and glued the front panel to the card base.

Coloring is not my forte, but I felt color-penciling on tan mixed media paper was more forgiving (you can easily erase your mistakes), and I liked it. 😊

CAS Christmas January Challenge - from our home to yours

Hi everyone,

This is the mid-month reminder for the Silhouette challenge at CAS Christmas.

I decided to use one of my all time favorite silhouette dies and make my card today. 

I made a lot of Christmas cards using these die-cuts in the past, so I wanted to give them a new life by making DIY stencils using the dies. 

Here's my card, using the stencils.

[How I made the card]

1. Made stencils using pieces of acetate and dies.

2. Stenciled on a piece of white cardstock using Distress Oxide Inks and make-up brushes.

3. Spritzed a little water over the sky to give a falling snow look.

4. Made a double-stitched frame impression on the panel using a frame die.

5. Heat-embossed the sentiment in silver, and added some dots with a silver gel pen.

6. Adhered the front panel to the card base.

Now I have the stencils so I can quickly make multiples.

CAS Christmas January Challenge

Hi everyone! I hope you all had a fun holiday and I'm wishing you a happy new year!

Now it's the start of the 2021 CAS Christmas Challenges, and this month's challenge is being hosted by our talented Designer, Julia (Create with Me). She chose Silhouette as the theme. We have a wonderful Guest Designer, Pat (Colourful Card Creations). Welcome, Pat!

I used die-cuts of deer silhouettes, and made this card.

[How I made the card]

1. Stenciled falling snow and sponged the bottom of a piece of acetate with Frosting Glass acrylic paint.

2. Heat-embossed the tree ring in clear on a piece of watercolor paper and blended inks over the heat-embossed image with a make-up brush.

3. Die-cut the deer and glued them onto the watercolor paper.

4. Die-cut the frame, glued the acetate piece to it, and popped up the entire assembly on the watercolor paper with strips of foam tape.

5. Glued the whole front window panel onto the card base.

I really liked the frosted glass look of the window and the watercolor paper texture showing through!

I decided to go without a sentiment for this card to keep the scene intact.
