Are you ready for another new challenge? This month's CAS Mix Up is hosted by our very talented Designer, Mac, and she chose Ombre as the challenge.
We have a wonderful Guest Designer, Bobby (bits & pieces).
Here's what I made:
Using Ombre Technique, Stenciling, Sponging, Heat-embossing, and Stamping
[How I made the card]
1. Stenciled the oats image using texture paste.
2. After the paste completely dried, sponged Distress Oxide Inks over the paste (with the stencil) and made an ombre look.
3. Gold heat-embossed the sentiment on a black card strip and layered it on the burlap ribbon.
4. Trimmed the front panel just a little and layered it on the card base.
5. Adhered the sentiment strip to the front panel.
It's funny that most of the time it took me to make this card was not in making the ombre effect, but in deciding how to add the sentiment. I wanted a black sentiment strip for the card to add a little pizzazz. But it was too striking for the soft ombre nature-theme image. So I layered the burlap ribbon under the strip to give a little organic feel.
Check out the cards made by our Designers and Bobby for more inspiration and join the fun! The challenge is open until June 24th.

ReplyDeletereally gorgeous card - great idea to use the DO inks over the texture paste - must give that a try.
ReplyDeleteThat sentiment can be the trickiest part of the card! I love how you rectified that. The burlap ribbon is perfect to ground the sentiment and let the beautiful oats take the starring role! I love how you've added the color to the embossing past! A wonderful adding of depth of color!
ReplyDeleteSuch a CAS masterpiece. I adore the stencilling followed by the gradation of colour. The tiny gold sentiment against the black is the perfect dose for this beauty. I do love your style xx

ReplyDeleteI LOVE this card Hideko. It definitely has an organic feel to it ... love the use of neutrals ... very striking with the ombre effect on your embossing paste oats. I LOVE the burlap under the black. Perfection! Isn't it funny how the finishing touches can take a lot of time but they do make a big impact. Fantastic design! xx
ReplyDeleteHideko, your idea to add color after the embossing paste was dried is brilliant … it gives it that 'how did she do that' and really draws the viewer in! LOve your design, and the sentiment is perfection, too - worth every second of thought! xx
