CAS Mix Up April Challenge - happy birthday

Welcome to our new challenge at CAS Mix Up!

Our very talented Designer, Loll, is hosting the challenge this month and her theme is Bleaching. Our wonderful guest designer is our former Designer,
Mac (The Sweetest of Peas).

I would have never thought of using bleach in my craft room, and I was not sure how it would lift colors from cardstock. Buy I'm telling you, it does work!

If you're not familiar with this technique (like me), please check out the tutorial videos provided on the challenge site.

Here's my card:

Using Bleaching, Sponging, Heat-embossing, Die-cutting, and Stamping

[How I made the card]
1. Stamped the image with dark brown distress oxide ink on Mixed Media paper, and clear heat-embossed it to make a front panel.
2. Sponged the front panel in lavender dye ink with a blending brush.
3. Lifted the colors of the petals from within, using bleach and a cheap small paint brush.
4. Added pink distress ink only to the center of the flowers and spread the ink a little with water.
5. Gold heat-embossed the sentiment.
6. Adhered pearls to the center of the flowers.
7. Die-cut the front panel and glued it onto the card base.

Thanks so much, Loll, for hosting this fun challenge this month!

You have until April 24th to link up your card here. Looking forward to seeing your cards in the gallery!

  3. So delicate and pretty, Hideko. Before Susan showed this technique at last year’s retreat, I was so scared to use bleach. But I absolutely love it... so effective in lifting colours.

  5. Beautiful bleached stamped cherry blossoms, Hideko. I love how you add back a bit pink color in the center of your blooms, tiny pearls and gold heat embossed sentiment. Pretty soft blended lavender for the background too. Wonderful example of how you can create a CAS design using mixed media products:-) TFS my friend. Stay safe and sending Big Hugs...Nancy
