This month's CAS Mix Up is hosted by my dear friend, Nancy, and she chose Stencil Tracing as the theme.
Here's my card:
1. Sprayed the back of the stencil with Pixi Spray and placed it over a piece of watercolor paper.
2. Sprinkled with Brushos and spritzed with water
3. Die-cut a rectangle in the center and a frame around the center panel.
4. Traced only the stenciled image on the frame with a fine black pen.
5. Stamped the sentiment in navy blue.
6. Raised the center panel by layering a piece of navy blue card stock under it.
7. Used navy blue card stock to matte the stenciled panel, and adhered the panel on to the card base.
I was originally planning to leave the image on the frame uncolored (and just trace the stencil), but when I actually did it, the peony looked too abstract to look like a flower without the help of color. So I colored the traced part after all. That's why the shade of the colors is a little different from that of the center panel. 😉
I've had this peony stencil for a long time, but this is the first time to use it. So I'll send this to NBUS Challenge #16.
Thank you for visiting me today!

Beautiful card Hideko. Your stenciled and outlined peony is so pretty! Love the design with the popped up layers. xx
ReplyDeleteGorgeous Hideko, love your layered framing and the outlining of the base layer. The brusho colours are so pretty, must use those :)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous, I love it. the way you have created different layers from the one image is so clever and effective and the fact that the colour varies a little just adds to the effect xx
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your beautiful stencil traced layered framed CAS card, my sweet friend. We (Denny and I) have really been enjoying your beauty and Love your Brushos color combo. Clever to just trace part of your petals and love the change of colors on the outer petals. Thank you again for always being so thoughtful, Hideko. So pleased you joined us at CAS Mix Up Stencil Tracing too:-) Love and Hugs..Nancy
ReplyDeleteHideko, this is outstanding! Pinning! I love the colors and the design! It's a standout in any gallery and I'm so pleased you shared with everyone at NBUS! Keep well! Hugs, Darnell
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful, Hideko! You've taken this technique to another level, and another! Outlining just that inner frame? Our eyes know that there is something unique about this bloom, and they just go searching for it! Gorgeous bloom, beautiful Brushos colors, fabulous matting and framing work.

Wow! What a beautiful card, Hideko! I love how the inside of the peony is just a bit darker! It adds to the charm! Such a creative idea to outline the outer part and leave the center to just shine in it's rich colors!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous design and card, Hideko. Amazing Brusho work... I struggle with powdered inks. 🙈 Love the two-tone colours and the partial stencil tracing.
ReplyDeleteTricky girl, I adore this outlining on only one panel. This gives a nice lightness and allows the bloom to keep its watercolour appeal. Thanks for joining us at CAS Mix Up! xx
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful. Your peony looks gorgeous, and I love the layered look xx
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely stunning and so very unique. Wonderful inspiration and a great technique x.
ReplyDeleteHideko, this has to be one of my favourites of your cards! Love the colour combination and the layering. Such a clever idea to only do the stencil tracing on one of the layers!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely gorgeous and I love that design Hideko
