We've hit the half way mark of 2018. Time flies, doesn't it?
The CAS Christmas June Challenge is Masculine, hosted by Christine (It's a Card Day's Night). And we have a talented Guest Designer, Bobby (Bits & Pieces).
When
I thought about "masculine" in winter, the first thing that came to
my mind was a flannel shirt. Maybe because my dad often wore a
flannel shirt in winter when I was a kid.
I made a piece of pattern paper using the plaid background stamps. I used Champagne for the thick borders and Green and Red for the stripes to make it Christmasy.
I die-cut the ragged frame and the buck, and layered them. Finally I stamped the sentiment in Champagne pigment ink and clear heat-embossed it.
The challenge is open until June 24th. Check out the great samples our Design Team and Bobby made here and play along with us!
Stamp: Plaid Background Stamp Set (Concord & 9th), Wishing You (Stampin' Up!)

Love how you stamped the plaid background and yes in Scotland here we wear flannel shirts quite a bit in Winter! Very striking and wonderful masculine Christmas card and also so very classy x
ReplyDeleteThis is perfect Hideko! LOVE the plaid "flannel" panel with the dark brown frame and die-cut buck --- very masculine! They look awesome on this beautiful splattered looking card base. xx
ReplyDeleteHideko I love your plaid background and your buck's head. The simplicity of design and colour make it perfectly masculine
ReplyDeleteI can't believe your plaid background is not designer paper, Hideko. Your plaid stamping is perfect and I love the masculine colors. Wonderful deckle frame and buck head for more of a masculine feel to your card. How wonderful your plaid brings back memories of your dad when you were young, too!
ReplyDeleteI thought you had splattered your card base...cool paper. TFS your masculine beauty, my friend. Love and Hugs...Nancy
I'm amazed you made the plaid background with stamps - it's fabulous! And my Dad often wears plaid shirts so it is definitely a masculine association for me too. Great card with the ragged border, the buck, and the rustic-looking cardstock.
ReplyDeleteYour plaid background with the Christmas red and green along with the champagne color is FABULOUS Hideko...a perfect backdrop for your buck! Such a great masculine card and I will probably never look at flannel shirts the same again...love it!! :0)
ReplyDeleteI adore plaid, and even flannel plaid shirts, Hideko! It's a wonderful tribute to your Dad, and a fabulous card! I've yet to make that Spicy Yogurt paper mine... but I won't resist it much longer!
ReplyDelete=]
Plaid is a classic Christmas attire in our family too, Your flannel background is beautifully stamped. Love how you incorporated the traditional red and green without making them the predominant colours. Don’t know if you can tell, but I’m a fan of non-traditional colour Christmas cards. 😂 Awesome CAS design too. Love it! xx
ReplyDeleteHow clever to stamp your own plaid, Hideko! That along with the deer head is very masculine and perfect for this challenge! Great card as always, my friend!
ReplyDeleteThat wonderful stamped plaid and great buck are perfect masculine features for your Christmas card Hideko! A lovely design! Julia xx
ReplyDeleteThe bit of plaid adds a nice, warm, masculine touch to your card, and the stag completes the design perfectly!
ReplyDeleteFabulous men's Christmas card, Hideko. I love the plaid and how you framed it with the silhouette, lovely design.
ReplyDeleteYou've created a perfect flannel background! If I hadn't read your description I'd have thought it was designer paper. Love the combo with the deer head and deckle edge.
ReplyDeleteTotally masculine and such a wonderful card and design!
ReplyDeleteJust love your stag atop the plaid! Perfect with that deckle frame!!
