CAS Christmas Card June Challenge - a very merry christmas

We've hit the half way mark of 2018. Time flies, doesn't it?

The CAS Christmas June Challenge is Masculine, hosted by Christine (It's a Card Day's Night). And we have a talented Guest Designer, Bobby (Bits & Pieces).

When I thought about "masculine" in winter, the first thing that came to my mind was a flannel shirt. Maybe because my dad often wore a flannel shirt in winter when I was a kid.

I made a piece of pattern paper using the plaid background stamps. I used Champagne for the thick borders and Green and Red for the stripes to make it Christmasy.
I die-cut the ragged frame and the buck, and layered them. Finally I stamped the sentiment in Champagne pigment ink and clear heat-embossed it.

The challenge is open until June 24th. Check out the great samples our Design Team and Bobby made here and play along with us!

Stamp: Plaid Background Stamp Set (Concord & 9th), Wishing You (Stampin' Up!)
Paper: Specialty Paper (Spicy Yogurt - Altenew), Very Vanilla, Early Espresso (Stampin' Up!)
Ink: Encore Ultimate Metallic (Chamapne - Tsukineko), Real Red, Garden Green (Stampin' Up!)
Accessories: Dies (Deckled Rectangles Large - Spellbinders,
Cut and Emboss - Recollections), Embossing Powder (Clear - Hero Arts), Thin 3D Foam Squares (Scrapbook Adhesives)

  4. I can't believe your plaid background is not designer paper, Hideko. Your plaid stamping is perfect and I love the masculine colors. Wonderful deckle frame and buck head for more of a masculine feel to your card. How wonderful your plaid brings back memories of your dad when you were young, too!

I thought you had splattered your card base...cool paper. TFS your masculine beauty, my friend. Love and Hugs...Nancy

  5. I'm amazed you made the plaid background with stamps - it's fabulous! And my Dad often wears plaid shirts so it is definitely a masculine association for me too. Great card with the ragged border, the buck, and the rustic-looking cardstock.

  7. I adore plaid, and even flannel plaid shirts, Hideko! It's a wonderful tribute to your Dad, and a fabulous card! I've yet to make that Spicy Yogurt paper mine... but I won't resist it much longer!

  8. Plaid is a classic Christmas attire in our family too, Your flannel background is beautifully stamped. Love how you incorporated the traditional red and green without making them the predominant colours. Don’t know if you can tell, but I’m a fan of non-traditional colour Christmas cards. 😂 Awesome CAS design too. Love it! xx

  13. You've created a perfect flannel background! If I hadn't read your description I'd have thought it was designer paper. Love the combo with the deer head and deckle edge.
